Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another young woman, born with emerald-green skin, who is smart, fiery, misunderstood and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”
With music and words by Stephen Schwartz, Wicked tells the backstory of the two witches from The Wizard of Oz and is set both before and after Dorothy drops in from Kansas.
The witches, who ultimately become Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West, have diametrically opposed personalities and much of the plot revolves around their unlikely friendship.
Almost 20 years since its premiere, WICKED remains one of the most successful and popular musicals in the world.
