After 36 years of service and contribution as a dancer, coach and artistic associate, Fiona Tonkin has decided to step away from her role as Artistic Associate and Principal Coach. Fiona leaves The Australian Ballet with an incredible legacy, there are few who have shown as much dedication to our company with so much integrity and class.

As a dancer, Fiona has been the very definition of artistic excellence, with unforgettable performances that have stayed with audiences to this day.
Her influence as a dancer extended outside the theatre with leading roles in some of the company's first broadcast performances, her interpretation of Lise in La Fille mal gard e continues to inspire young dancers across the globe.

After stepping away from the stage she has continued her contribution to our artform around the world, most recently as part of our Artistic Staff for 21 years.
In this role she has devoted herself entirely to generations of dancers, coaching roles in works across the repertoire and guiding our artists to new heights.

We thank Fiona for her dedication and commitment to ballet, for the mark she leaves on our company and its dancers.
Please join us in celebrating a true icon of ballet!
