We're highlighting the three finalists for the Opera Australia Impact Award at next week's AWMA Awards. Next up is Linda Thompson.
Linda Thompson is a visionary artistic and stage director, principal singer, and CEO/Artistic Director of the Australian Contemporary Opera Company, based in Melbourne. With three decades of professional experience in the sector, Linda has established herself as a creative powerhouse in the Australian artistic landscape.
As the founder and Artistic Director of Australia's only regional international opera festival, Linda has pushed the boundaries of what is possible for opera in Australia. Linda's expertise spans a wide range of artistic disciplines, including creative leadership, executive management, professional performance, performance creation, and pedagogy. She has contributed to discourse extensively through written and program material, and has commissioned new theatrical treatments, works, and orchestral arrangements for opera. As an Artistic Director/Producer, Linda has staged over 200 opera performances, including 5 regional opera festivals, and 24 acclaimed productions as a stage director.
