A Slumbering Saga Unveiled

Set to grace the stages of the Central Coast from mid-January 2024, this fairy tale promises to whisk audiences away on a timeless journey through a realm where dreams and reality entwine.
At its core, "Sleeping Beauty" narrates the timeless tale of a beautiful princess cursed by an evil sorceress, a slumber only to be broken by true love's kiss, and a quest to restore harmony and awaken a dormant kingdom. However, Mary Kelly and Pollyanna Forshaw have injected their own creative flair into this cherished classic, promising unexpected twists, delightful surprises, and a narrative that will resonate with both young and old.
A Glorious Return to Pantomime
What sets "Sleeping Beauty" apart is not only its mesmerizing narrative but also its significant role in resurrecting the tradition of pantomime, which has lain dormant on the local theatre scene for far too long. This production marks a triumphant return to a form of theatre that has the power to captivate audiences of all ages, transcending generations to create a shared experience that is nothing short of magical.
The opportunity to partake in this extraordinary endeavor extends to performers of all ages. The Quintessential Pantomime Style
At the heart of the pantomime tradition lies a distinctive English theatrical style, a dynamic blend of spectacle and storytelling that has delighted audiences for centuries. Pantomimes are characterized by their larger-than-life characters, uproarious comedy, melodious musical numbers, and a timeless battle between good and evil. Audiences can anticipate uproarious laughter, heartwarming moments, and a dash of enchantment that resonates with the spirit of the fairy tales.
From the hilarious antics of the dame, a cross-dressing comic character, to the flamboyant heroics of the principal boy played by a young woman, the traditional pantomime style brings together a medley of theatrical elements that celebrate the joyous and the absurd in equal measure. "Sleeping Beauty" is set to encapsulate all these elements, invoking a delightful sense of nostalgia while creating new memories for audiences young and old.
