Miranda Michalowski

Miranda is an emerging actor and writer who is passionate about creating queer and female-driven work. She recently graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts (Writing and Theatre Studies). Miranda started acting in community theatre on the Central Coast and performed the lead role of ‘Sue' in Puberty Blues for Jopuka Productions. In 2020, she performed a monologue in the Short and Sweet Festival, where she received a People's Choice Award and a nomination for Best Actress. Miranda has acted in various student films, recently playing the role of ‘Addy' in the AFTRS film ‘home bodies' by Aliyah Knight.
In 2021, Miranda participated in a playwriting course led by Lachlan Philpott, where she wrote her debut play Young Bodies/Somebody's. She was selected as one of 20 young writers from across Australia for the ATYP National Studio, where she wrote the short play ‘it's a love story, baby just say yes'. In 2022, Miranda wrote and starred in a queer independent short film ‘Goodbye Mr Wilde', which was directed and produced by students from AFTRS. In May 2022, she will be assistant directing her debut play Young Bodies/Somebody's at the Flight Path Theatre in Marrickville. She will also be completing an Honours thesis in Playwriting at UNSW in 2022.
